LY 294002 [2-(4-Morpholinyl)-8-phenyl-4 H-1-benzopyran-4-one] is a potent and specific cell-permeable inhibitor of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinases (PI 3-kinases) with IC50 values in the 1-50uM range. LY 294002 competitively inhibits ATP binding to the catalytic subunit of PI 3-kinases and does not inhibit PI 4-kinase, DAG-kinase, PKC, PKA, MAPK, S6 kinase, EGFR or c-src tyrosine kinases and rabbit kidney ATPase.
