The CelVivo system creates an environment which promotes the growth and maintenance of large 3D tissue mimetic structures, whether they are spheroids, organoids and other aggregates. The technology CelVivo has developed to grow cells so they retain or recover their in vivo physiological attributes.

Understanding the CelVivoTechnology

CelVivo’s ambition is to provide cells with conditions which allow them to develop functionality which closely mimics that seen in the intact organism.

To achieve this, they have developed a system which obviates the need for scaffolds, gels or any type of additives which might perturb gene expression away from its natural baseline equilibrium. Furthermore they have very significantly reduced contact with plastics and reduced shear forces. It is possible to use the culture media that you normally use for cell culture. CelVivo suggests reducing glucose levels to 1 g/L glucosw, which is more relative to those seen in healthy animals.

The CelVivo System components

  • Clinostar™ System,
  • Clinoreactors
  • Tablet to control the system.

The ClinoStar is a clinostat for 3D cell culture incorporated in a CO₂ incubator . Allowing you to culture cells in 3D in a single unit.

A tablet is used to control the temperature, CO₂ level and each of the 6 clinostat motors are (independently) controlled using an intuitive software. The CO₂ and temperature in the chamber is blended by a centrally located fan to ensure a precise, homogeneous growth environment.

The video explains how spheroids from immortal cell lines are formed in the Clinnoreactor. The spheroids will mature in the Clinoreactor over 18 days. After maturation, the spheoirds will exhibit functionality and architecture like in vivo tissue, making them the perfect model for studies in toxicology, efficacy and cell development.

  • Excellent for co-cultures and tumor studies
  • The cells experience very low shear stress
